Favourite websites

BBC Radio - check out Radio 1 for the dance music, Radio 2 for soft pop, Radio 3 for classical music, and Radio 4 for intelligent commentary and conversation ( - something sadly lacking in South Texas)

NPR - the US equivalent to a combo of BBC Radio 3 and 4 above - favourite programmes are "All things considered" (5pm-7pm weekdays), "Marketplace" (not broadcast in South Texas, but available on the web), and "Morning Edition" (5am-9am, but repeated at 7am)

CBC - The place to catch up with what's going on in Canada - and all the cold weather that I don't have to put up with any longer!

My friends - more here soon too!!!

Music

CLASSICAL

Symphonic: Gustav Mahler, Benjamin Britten, Michael Tippett, Richard Strauss, Dimitri Shostakovich, Jean Sibelius, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Steve Reich

Opera: Leos Janacek, Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Benjamin Britten, John Adams

JAZZ

Ella Fitzgerald, Holly Cole, Bill Evans, Stan Getz

POP

Buzzin' Fly   - the successor to Lazy Dog - with Ben Watt spinning some of the best deep house around

Jori Hulkonnen - Finnish DJ and electronica artist, and so different...not really club music, but certainly a cut above most electronica

Vanessa Daou - chilled - the best female vocalist around

Stephen Duffy - someone of my generation, but at the same time he's moved with the times, is vastly underrated and has made some wonderful albums
